Graffiti Nation
Graffiti used to be solely considered vandalism, but once the public began to recognize the varying talent of those who felt compelled to decorate the plain and the boring with elements of design, in some places at least, it became celebrated.
INSPIRATION:
I love reuse and I recycling because it's both practical and in my mind celebrates true creativity. I find that there is something magical about working within the constraints of materials others might discard or find no purpose in; to me it is in those very constraints that bring out more creativity than new materials EVER do.
Besides it's fun and requires innovation and adaptation to find a purpose where others see none. Some artists exclusively repurpose, but for me it is as potential materials appear that I find my reuse treasures! Another bonus is that I feel it enables me to create things that are really unique and with character. I hope you find this so too!
DESCRIPTION/MATERIALS USED
This mirror is made mosaic style with shredded paint chip samples applied to the wooden surface. Since I am regularly looking to experiment in my art I decided to add another layer with a permanent markerwith a graffiti and Henna inspired influence. A happy confluence of culture resulted in this highly detailed and useful mirror.
Just right little mirror for that last glance as you dash out the door to ensure everything as it should be! It was given a protective varnish coat that offers a shine that enhances it's already rich coloring.
This wooden mirror measures 10" x 10" - 25.4 cm x 25.4 cm and is ready to hang.
(Hint: it also hides nicely under a Christmas tree as that specially hand-crafted gift for the one who has everything!)
